NE, KS & CO Sign Republican River Agreement

Reflecting a new spirit of cooperation, Nebraska, Kansas and Colorado today have reached a historic agreement during a special meeting of the Republican River Compact Administration. Representatives of the States have signed a resolution, approving operational adjustments in 2014 and 2015 under the Republican River Compact that will benefit water users throughout the Basin and set the Administration on a course to find long-term solutions to persistent problems.

Former MRNRD Manager Receives Award

Dan Smith, retired general manager for the Middle Republican Natural Resources District (MRNRD), was inducted into the Nebraska Association of Resources District’s (NARD) Hall of Fame at the NARD annual meeting in Kearney.  The induction took place on Monday, September 22nd, and was presented by Terry Martin, president of NARD.  Smith recently retired after nearly 35 years with the district.

EQIP Sign-Up Deadline

Farmers and ranchers interested in soil, water and wildlife conservation are encouraged to sign up now for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). EQIP is available from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.  Those interested in applying are encouraged to sign up before Oct. 17, 2014.
